The International Trading Centre (ITC) has just launched a new website, Standards Map, which will provide small and medium entrepreneurs willing to export their products, with a reliable tool to keep track of voluntary sustainability standards (i.e.: guidelines, rules and product characteristics), often required by buyers from the international market.
Through Standards Map, both producers and buyers will benefit from an easy-to-use tool that allows them to select appropriate voluntary standards among the ever-changing landscape of international sustainability standards.
Thanks to a simple search engine, users will be able of entering specific criteria (for instance type of product, producing country or region, destination market) and Standards Map will identify and select appropriate standards among the constantly up-to-date database that includes over 130 standards, and covers 80 sectors in 180 countries.
After a free registration, users will be able of comparing and analyzing different standards; moreover, on the basis of user's selections, Standards Map will produce a customized “sustainability diagnostic report”; as stated in the official press release by ITC, this tailormade document will serve “as a company’s roadmap towards sustainable production and trade”.
