Improving livelihoods and citizen engagement through rural ICT connectivity
The next Connecting Rural Connectivity Conference (CRC) conference, the 6th Annual Connecting Rural Communities Africa Forum, will take place from 24-26 August 2011 at the Kilimanjaro Hotel Kempinski in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The theme for this year’s conference is "Improving livelihoods and citizen engagement through rural ICT connectivity".
"ICT connectivity and its enormous benefits have never been in dispute. However the majority of Africans living in rural areas still lack basic access to telephony, the Internet and related ICT services and applications. For six years the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation’s (CTO) Connecting Rural Connectivity (CRC) conferences have been leading the way in creating a platform for in-depth deliberations on how universal access can be achieved through public-private partnerships"
