El programa FACET de USAID - Promoviendo la competitividad agrícola a través de las TICs

El programa FACET (por sus siglas en Inglés " Fostering Agriculture Competitiveness Employing Information and Communication Technologies"), un galardón asociado bajo  FIELD-Support LWA y gestionado por FHI 360, fue financiado por USAID/AFR/SD/EGEA––la asociación que supervisa el diseño e implementación de la iniciativa de USAID por el hambre en el mundo y la seguridad alimentaria para África del sub-Sahara.
 
Diseñado para ser interactivo y colaborativo, FACET proporcionó asistencia técnica para mejorar la competitividad y la productividad en sub-sectores de la agricultura mediante el uso de las TIC como herramientas para mejorar el funcionamiento y la competitividad de las cadenas de valor agrícolas y facilitar el comercio de productos agrícolas en África del sub-Sahara.
 
En línea con el llamado del administrador de USAID, Rajiv Shah, para una mayor atención a las intervenciones basadas en pruebas, documentación y difusión de aprendizaje, FACET ha incorporado lecciones aprendidas y mejores prácticas para construir relaciones de colaboración. Para lograr sus objetivos, FACET tuvo dos componentes clave en el programa:
 
• Intercambio de conocimientos a través de Misiones sobre enfoques sostenibles y escalables a través del uso de las TIC; y
• Asistencia técnica a corto plazo a proyectos para ayudarles a mejorar sus usos de las TIC
 
El componente de intercambio de conocimientos es extendido, presentando los principales resultados, herramientas y estudios de caso y haciéndolos disponibles para una audiencia global a través de la Comunidad de e-Agricultura.
